Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a woman's body in Herstmonceux today (Monday, March 21).

Shortly before 11.30am on Monday, officers attended an address in West End, Herstmonceux, following concerns for the occupant. Officers found the body of a woman within the property.

Detectives are waiting to speak to a 50-year-old man from Battle, known to the woman, who is currently being treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, for serious injuries.
