Car catches fire in Worthing

A car caught fire in Worthing in the early hours of this morning (Friday, June 23).

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said it was called shortly after 3am to a ‘small vehicle fire’ in Radnor Road.

“Joint Fire Control mobilised one fire engine from Worthing to the scene,” a fire service spokesperson said.

"Upon arrival the crew found a car well alight. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using a hose reel and used a thermal imaging camera to ensure there were no further hotspots.”

The crew left the scene shortly after 4am, the fire service said.
