A man was attacked with a hammer in a property in Newhaven.

Police said officers were called to the property in Lewes Road, Newhaven at 7.22pm on Saturday, April 18.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “The victim suffered minor injuries to his head and abdomen, which were believed to have been caused by a hammer.

“A 40-year-old man from Newhaven, who is known to the victim, was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a Class B drug.

“He has been released on conditional bail until May 15 while enquiries continue.”
