Disabled access victory for Green man
Wheelchair users faced having to negotiate a footbridge at Durrington Station as gates to a footpath on the south side were locked at 9pm.
Green party prospective parliamentary candidate for Worthing West David Aherne has now persuaded HMRC, which locked the gates, to keep them open until the last train passes.

“I took it up two years ago and got absolutely nowhere but I wrote to the head honcho at HMRC and she has responded with immediate effect.”
The footpath extends from the station ramp to Barrington Road but the ramp was ‘rendered useless’ after the gates were locked.
On-site security guards will now monitor the arrival time of the last train and adjust locking up times accordingly.
The lock-up time was agreed locally several years ago as an enhancement to site security, before the station ramp was installed.
