Its members overcame the difficult growing conditions of the winter and Storm Katie at Easter to produce a magnificent display which filled St Mary’s Centre in Felpham.

Hide AdPaul Sedgwick, the society’s press officer, said: “The judges of all the classes were highly complementary on the standard of all the exhibits.
“The 16 classes of daffodils and narcissi provided a glorious display. Among the pot plants being exhibited was the unusual succulent Pelergonium Echinatum, which looked like a geranium grafted on to a thorny rose stem. It is apparently a succulent shrublet from the African continent.”
Some lovely leeks and tempting purple sprouting broccoli were among the vegetable exhibits which also survived the extreme conditions.
“The floral art exhibit on the subject of An Easter Table Arrangement was a vibrant display of tulips and irises brought together in an imaginative arrangement which also gained the best exhibit in floral art,” said Mr Sedgwick.
