The most famous town in history

The 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings lands in October, which English Heritage has called '˜the most significant anniversary of 2016', as quoted by Kevin Boorman of Hastings Borough Council recently.

But our council seems to do all it can to ignore the most famous date – and location – in the English-speaking world.

So please can we drop the confusing welcome message on all the main road entrances to Hastings from the (factually doubtful) ‘Birthplace of Television’ to something believable and certainly unique such as: ‘The Most Famous Town in History’ or (the best of all) ‘Popular with visitors since 1066’?
