Hide AdHe will be joined on his quest by friend and fellow police officer PC Mark Baker, who lives in Arundel, and pal Gary Perrin, from Aldershot.
Ed, 30, said: “I’m ex-military, and my old battalion has just been deployed out to Afghanistan for another six-month tour, so it got me thinking it would be good to do something for the charity.”
Ed was with the 1st Battalion Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment until 2003, when he left to join the police force.
The group will start the challenge on October 17.
He said: “We think it will take us five days, and we’ll be camping out along the route.
“It’s around 17/18 miles a day, so it will be challenging, but I’m looking forward to it.”
The group hope to raise around £500.
