However since she did not gain 50 per cent of votes, Ms Bourne will go into a runoff with second place finisher Labour’s Michael Jones.
She finished with 114,570 first preference votes ahead of Mr Jones with 61,017.

Hide AdUKIP’s Patrick Lowe came third with 43,075 votes, in front of Lib Dem James Walsh (29,550) and the Green Party’s James Doyle (26,038).
The next round involves counting all the second preference votes on the ballot papers of those voters who did not show a first preference or either of the two second round candidates.
These votes are then added to those first preference votes of the second round candidates and the candidate with the most votes wins.
Ms Bourne received the most first preferences in Adur, Arun, Chichester, Crawley, Eastbourne, Horsham, Lewes, Mid Sussex, Rother, Wealden and Worthing.

Hide AdMr Jones received the most first preferences in Brighton and Hove as well as Hastings.
Overall turnout is 23.14 per cent.
Turnout was lowest in Mid Sussex (19.02 per cent), and highest in Hastings (34.69 per cent).
