Rowing Club's Fun Regatta
With many people willing to take up the challenge, Club Captain Andy Bickers said the main aim of the event was to raise peoples awareness of the club and, "to get people to have a go and have fun."
He explained that prior to the race people were firstly given the opportunity to try rowing techniques on dry land in 'dry training boats'.

Ten teams consisting of four rowers and a Coxswain raced approximately 500 meters from the clock tower back to the rowing club, and there was a motley crew of contestants.
Those joining in the fun included, 'guys with moustaches' and the social club's, St Trinians 'schoolgirls'; local pubs the Devonshire and York also had teams competing.
The winning 'St Trinians' team were presented with commemorative shield, a pewter tankard and medal.
Medals were also presented to everyone who had competed in the race.
