Staplecross

What a quiet little community we seem to be at present with not a lot being presented through this column for your attention. But with the Pre-School Playgroup and our own village Primary School both winding down in readiness for the End of Term, and the first of our Bank Holidays, namely that long and eagerly awaited Easter Holiday Weekend, fast approaching, I’m sure that it won’t be too long before the dates in your diary begin to start being filled in rapidly once more. Many of the outdoor activities which have regularly taken place within our lovely parish, will once more recommence following their own Wintertime break and how lovely it will be to once more, be able to sit outside, on a warm summer evening watching our own favourite outdoor sport or acitivity or pastime once more SHEER BLISS !

A quick and short reminder of the Public Consultation between the Fire Authority, Battle Fire Station staff and members of the public to discuss and debate the proposals intended for the Fire Station at Battle. This meeting will take place on Monday April 7th. 7.30pm at the Langton Hall, High Street, in Battle. This no doubt, could turn out to be quite a heated programme of events as local residents and members of the surrounding communities, effected by the said proposals, feel rather passionate that the station remains in Battle with a full time crew. A march down Battle High Street from the Fire Station to the venue, prior to the meeting is proposed, with Police support, in order to enhance media attention and attract more public support. Members of the Public are urgently requested to attend to hear the new proposals and to understand the gravity of the situation and how this will effect us all. Our parish are so lucky to have the peace of mind knowing that we can rely on our Fire & Rescue service for a quick and professional response if and when we ever have the misfortune to need it. We should also remember that the members of East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service don’t just fight fires !. It hardly seems 12 months ago when the Ewhurst Parish Council convened their Annual Parish Assembly but time flies, and once more it’s that time of the year to do it all again. This meeting will be taking place on Tuesday April 8th at Staplecross Village Hall, Northiam Road, Staplecross starting at 7.15pm. Try, if you can, to arrive half an hour earlier at 6.45pm to allow more time to enjoy the delicious refreshments arranged for your delight, to mingle with the other parishioners and Councillors. Chat with all and sundry and visit the stalls and displays It is the perfect time to raise any concerns you may have which are relevant to the parish as there will be representatives from all 3 tiers of local government, there to answer your questions and hopefully allay any fears or worries you may have. There will be several speakers at this meeting giving food for thought, through their diverse subject matter. Although Ewhurst Parish is relatively small in size, there is always a great deal of interesting ‘stuff ‘ going on throughout the three villages that make up this parish!. There will be displays from many of the clubs, social groups and other societies that abound throughout our parish giving you another incentive -or enticement- to consider joining them. The range is wide and varied and all you have to do is choose which one - or ones - you’re interested in or want to get involved in. It is also a great time to not only meet the folk who work tirelessly on your behalf but gives you the chance to “have your say” and to put forward any suggestions or ideas you may have to help make our parish a happier, safer and better place to live, work and play. Looking forward to seeing you there.!
