Groves: ‘We may look at trialists again’

They were playing a group of men who have played together before and it was always going to be a difficult game.”

Hide AdGroves thought the wet and cool conditions offered a realistic challenge compared with the recent boiling temperatures they have experienced.
He said: “I thought they handled the conditions well - they played some quick football at times and handled themselves well in general.
“For a group who haven’t played together too much they did well.
“One or two of the trialists have impressed us and we may take the opportunity of having another look at them against better opposition.”

Hide AdAmong those who enjoyed good games on Monday night were included former Fulham striker Charles Banya amd ex-Wickham Wanderers defender Anthony Stewart, who scored their opening goal.
Also among their ranks was former Bridges player Kenny Halton, who played in central defence.
Crawley travel to Conference Premier club Woking tonight (Wednesday) followed by a home game on Saturday against a Chelsea XI in what will be Reds’ last pre-season game before the League One kick-off on August 9.
