Lancing ready for shield semi-final after stunning Steyning
The Lancers will now host Lingfield next Wednesday (May 12, 7.30) for a place in the final, which will be against the winners of Saturday's Loxwood-Newhaven semi.
At Steyning Lancing took the field with high hopes after battling to a tight 0-0 draw at Pagham that meant a win would see them through.

Hide AdSteyning had some regular first teamers missing through injury, only having a bare 11 available, which included a couple of their under-18s.
There was an early scare for Lancing when keeper Matt Evans mishit a clearance to a Steyning player who tried his luck from long distance. But the shot sailed wide.
Lancing needed a good block from Joe Kennard to prevent a goalbound effort from reaching its target.
Lancing worked their way into the game and their first threat came from Ebou Jallow. Josh Gould slipped a neat pass for him to run on to but he was dispossessed.

Hide AdDarren Budd had a free kick deflected off the wall for a corner just before the break.
Harrison Parker, Matt Daniel and Bradley Campbell-Francis came on early in the second half. The breakthrough eventually came as a result of a run to the byline from Parker, whose cross fell perfectly for Finn Daniels-Yeoman who could not miss.
Lancing put the result beyond doubt on 77 minutes.
The ball was played down the right and despite an offside flag, play carried on and Darren Goldsmith laid a pass into the path of Tom Caplin, who hammered it into the roof of the net from a couple of yards.
Dave Sharman came on for his 399th game for Lancing, who will entertain Lingfield in the semi-final on Wednesday, May 12.

Having given a good overall performance to be trailing only 3-2, Yapton visibly tired and gave away three more goals in the final 20 minutes of their West Sussex League group match.
They have now lost all four of their fixtures in the group.
It was 1-1 at half-time, Cameron Coe scoring an equaliser after Sidlesham’s early opener.
Sidlesham went 3-1 up in the second half, before Aaron Tague pulled one back from the penalty spot – and then Yapton collapsed.
