Review: Musicians of All Saints' season finale
Concluding their South American season, Dominic Nunns directed an exhilarating performance of Alberto Ginastera's Variaciones Concertantes.
Composed in 1953, this work required and received performances of solo quality in every section of the orchestra.

Hide AdIt was new to me and, I suspect, to most of the audience and was acclaimed with gusto.
A first performance of Peter Copley's Concerto for Flute, Strings and Harp followed with a contrasting and more reflective mood.
Solo flautist Anne Hodgson played with sensitivity and, in a second movement, changing to the alto flute, demonstrated the alluring tonal beauty of this instrument.
I found this new work engaging and stimulating.
The concert and the season ended with Beethoven's first symphony. This piece found immediate popular acceptance at its first hearing, and it did so again at this concert, with another exciting performance.
